Roads :
The idea of the road trip and it’s place in photography has fascinated me for some time now. It’s an American thing though, and I’m not an American. How does this road trip genre transpose itself to the United Kingdom? I don’t think it really does, so my approach has free reign to be different. To not depend on the procession of other artists’ images that have preceded it.

Here I have chosen to explore concepts of the journey and time. Photography and film. Still and moving. These films of layered stills offer the viewer the chance to share an anonymous journey, the same journey taken over and over again. They are ephemeral though, providing scant detail of that journey; a hint of a road sign here, the ghost of a building there. This allows the viewer to bring forth their own memories, to fill some of the gaps with their experiences of the journey.
