Le Loup, le renard et la belette :
Brittany is a place of contrasts, at once bleak and beautiful, playful and taciturn. It’s also becoming empty, as the local population moves away in search of work, leaving behind empty houses to be bought as holiday homes by the English and others. These photographs are therefore empty of people to reflect this state of affairs, and also as a commentary on the extreme privacy laws the country has, requiring releases from all people for all reasons – Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Doisneau could not easily have created their work under these laws in the 21st Century.
The photographs themselves do not aim to glorify or condemn this condition, merely to record and to present what can be seen in Finistère.; the current stage of the ongoing change that is taking place. They also hope to capture something of the life, beauty, solace and the fortitude of the region, whilst not brushing over the hardship and the conflict that life there can undoubtedly contain for those that remain.
